Making coffee, my workplace philosophy class

There are no humble things in the world, only humble attitudes.

  It's all little things.

What do you think is the most basic and important professional skill for an assistant?

  Communication, coordination, or copywriting?

Neither is right! The correct answer is: make coffee.

Probably all assistants have encountered such a situation. When I put the cup in front of the boss, I felt so lost: what am I doing? Did I graduate from college just to come here to serve tea and water?

There are many small things similar to making coffee, which the assistants have to deal with with their eyes rolled. For example, helping seniors in the company to copy materials, send and receive faxes, buy breakfast for the boss, send and receive dry cleaning clothes, and even colleagues who have not yet met will leave the sentence "Notify me when the president returns to the office" and turn away. The assistant could only deal with them one by one, and two words flowed from his forehead with sweat: "Smashing reminder".

There is a saying called "Mushroom Law", which says that newcomers are often placed in dark corners, neglected, run errands, accept all kinds of unprovoked criticism and accusations, and cannot get necessary guidance and guidance. Support is in the process of self-destruction. Just as mushroom growth must go through such a process, so does human growth.

To be honest, many newcomers in the workplace, especially assistant newcomers, have to go through this "mushroom period", and suddenly feel that the majestic picture with the boss is shattered like a glass, the original work enthusiasm has been extinguished, and the job prospects Become dazed, and some people give up even after starting work.

The big truth in the little things

There is a senior who has been an assistant to the director, director, and chief executive officer. She can be said to be my role model. So, I asked her how to spend the "mushroom period", and she told me such a story:

There was a famous general named Ishida Sancheng during the Shogunate era in Japan. Before he became a general, he was just a sweeping monk in a monastery.

On this day, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who was walking outside, came to the temple to ask for water, and Ishida Sancheng received him. Ishida Sancheng first poured a large bowl of tea for Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Toyotomi Hideyoshi took it and drank it; then he used a smaller bowl than before, poured another bowl of tea, and Toyotomi Hideyoshi took it and drank it. It drank; next, he used a smaller bowl, poured a third bowl of tea, and handed it to Toyotomi Hideyoshi.

Toyotomi Hideyoshi saw that the bowl that Ishida Sancheng poured tea for himself was getting smaller and smaller, and was very puzzled, so he asked him why. Ishida Sancheng said: "The first bowl of tea I poured for you was a large bowl of herbal tea. I saw that you were very thirsty and needed to drink a lot of water. This bowl of tea is for quenching your thirst; the second bowl of tea is a A bowl of warm tea, because you won't feel thirsty after drinking a large bowl of tea, this one is for you to drink normally; the third bowl of tea is a small bowl of hot tea, because after two bowls you are no longer thirsty I need to drink a lot of water again, so I can take my time to taste the tea."

After hearing this, Toyotomi Hideyoshi felt that this person was very intelligent, so he asked him to follow him. Only after this was the famous general Ishida Sancheng.

After the senior finished telling the story, he looked at me with a smile. I understood her intentions, but I was still unconvinced and said, "What's the use of brewing coffee well, I could have played a greater role!" The

senior laughed He said, "You still don't understand. This is the philosophy of small things like making coffee. Usually we always think that small things are not done well because they are not worth doing or don't want to do. It is forgivable, and others should pay attention to us. Great results. Therefore, your logic is outcome theory. However, in fact, on the contrary, the observer and judge, that is, your boss, pays more attention to whether you are attentive in doing things, and when you feel that small things are not good When there is excuse, he will feel that such a simple thing has to make mistakes because he has no intention. If he can do something but cannot do it with his heart, then more important tasks cannot be discussed. Therefore, his logic is attitude. This is the workplace philosophy of brewing coffee."

  Be a caring person at

work Inspired by my predecessors, I have re-understood such trivial matters as serving tea and water. I used the weekend to sign up for a short-term tea art training class, started to learn the tea ceremony, and learned a lot of tea culture, tea knowledge, and tea making skills.

In addition, I also applied for an electric kettle for the pantry. Because once the president received a guest, I should have served tea after the guest was seated, but the water from the water dispenser was delayed. As a result, the guest was about to get up and say goodbye when I brought the brewed tea in. At that time, I could even see the anger in the president's eyes.

After that day, I immediately applied to buy an electric kettle. When the water in the water dispenser was not running, this electric kettle could be used for emergencies, and I also found that it is better to use the water boiled in the electric kettle to make tea than to use the water from the water dispenser. Tea is more suitable.

In addition, I also have my own understanding of whether to serve tea or coffee.

In winter, when guests visit, I make black tea. Black tea is stomach-warming, best for winter drinking, and has a mild taste, suitable for people of all constitutions. I usually serve green tea in spring and summer.

If someone comes to visit in the afternoon, I usually prepare coffee or Tieguanyin, because it is easy to get sleepy in the afternoon, and the rich taste of coffee or Tieguanyin can refresh people and make it easier to concentrate.

When there are female visitors, if there is no special request, I will prepare scented tea. Scented tea has the effect of beauty and beauty, and most women like to drink it.

When some visitors ask for coffee, I pour the brewed coffee into a cup, and then prepare a small plate with sugar and milk packets so that guests can add sugar or milk to their liking.

For frequent visitors, I write down their favorite drinks and serve them the same drink next time.

Of course, the first thing you should keep in mind is your boss's preferences. In the summer, I keep plenty of iced green tea and iced coffee in the fridge. When the president went out and returned to the office, he immediately brought him a cup of iced green tea to relieve the heat. At this time, the president would say to me: "Miss Park, you have a heart.

" I was very touched. Because probably in this incident, only I deeply felt how important it is to work hard. When you really want to do a thing well, you will always try all kinds of ways and think about every detail, which will inevitably make you do things better and minimize the error rate.

Only by working hard can develop

Few people will reflect on their work consciousness, because work consciousness cannot be quantified, and there is no way to manage it rigidly. However, there is a world of difference between the presence and absence of work awareness.

There is a senior around me. When he first entered the workplace, he felt that he was very idle, and no one was willing to entrust him with the work, because he was worried that he would not do well and cause trouble. He said, "You know how bad it feels to not be trusted and not be able to prove yourself. Everyone is so busy, but I'm sitting there doing nothing. At that time, I thought those busy people were very happy.

" The only thing the company's predecessors gave him was sorting, sorting, and filing documents. This kind of work sounds a lot like sorters on some production lines. It is simple manual labor, and only needs to classify products by number, title and other information.

But the senior was ecstatic to get such a job. He said that after receiving the job, he deliberately did it very slowly, and as a result, everyone got off work, and he had to work overtime alone.

It was when he was working overtime that he flipped through the documents processed by his predecessors page by page. Where an annotation is made and where a modification is made, just learn it bit by bit. In the end, he became the boss of the seniors.

In the Korean drama "City Hall", the heroine Xin Mirai is a tenth-level civil servant (tenth level is the lowest level of Korean civil servants) and works in the mayor's secretary office. Because her level is too low, she can only do some chores such as answering the phone, copying materials, and making coffee. However, she has never underestimated these jobs. Even if it is photocopied materials, she will pay attention to the information in the materials. As a result, with her knowledge of government information and grassroots work, she was finally elected mayor.

There are no humble things in the world, only humble attitudes. When you see something as low and low, you put yourself in such a position; when you see the same thing as important and worth doing, you will also reap the corresponding results.
